Major Renovations
Annex House
The original house was
in poor condition and had been stripped of its original finishes. It contained
five bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms. By simply rearranging the existing
spaces, we were able to create a house with five bedrooms, four full bathrooms
and a family room. No structural work was required. The renovation involved
extensive use of salvaged architectural elements in order to reintroduce period
character to the home. The finished house features a restaurant calibre kitchen
as the focal point of the ground floor.
Hillcrest Apartment
This two-bedroom apartment had a claustrophobic layout and needed to be
fully updated. Two non-structural walls were removed to create a light-filled
open plan living/kitchen area with ensuite laundry and a walkout to a roof deck.
The bathroom was renovated and he original finishes throughout the apartment
were restored.
Brockton Village House
A Victorian row-house in west central Toronto had become quite tired. We
redesigned the layout to allow for a large bathroom and laundry facilities on
the second floor. To bring light and views to the ground level, the kitchen
floor was raised and a glass door to the garden installed. New cabinetry,
countertops, flooring, fixtures and finishes were installed throughout the
house. The completed house combines both modern and traditional character
elements.
